Tom spent 1/3 of his monthly salary for rent and 1/7 of his monthly salary for his credit card bill. If $1320 was left, what was his monthly salary?

assume that x = monthly salary

x -1/3x - 1/7x = 1320
11/21x =1320
x = 1320 divides by 11/21
x = $ 2520

his monthly salary was $ 2520
